This map has been offline for years now. So how can I realistically locate drinking fountains generally? But also specifically by Mombiju park? I'm so thirsty but don't want to buy plastic water bottles unless it's an emergency.

There is a fountain right inside Mombiju Park itself, near the playground on the western side. It's not always turned on, depends on the season and maintenance, but it has been working consistently the last few summers. For a general backup plan, the app Trinkwasser is maintained by a small group of volunteers and has been more reliable than the official maps ever were. You can also just walk into any cafe on Brunnenstraße and ask for tap water, most will give it to you for free if you have your own bottle.

Both replies are good, but neither mentioned the fountain at the corner of Fehrbelliner Straße and Brunnenstraße, which is actually closer to the park's southern entrance than the one on Torstraße. It's a newer model, installed in 2022, and you'll find it right next to a bike repair station. If you want a general alternative to the apps, the Berliner Stadtplanung website still lists all public fountains by district as a downloadable PDF, though they update it only once a year.

The old Berliner Wasserbetriebe map was indeed handy while it lasted. For Mombiju Park specifically, there is a drinking fountain at the corner of Torstraße and Brunnenstraße, about a three minute walk from the park entrance. It is a standard silver pillar style one, usually works fine from spring through early autumn. For finding others generally, the app Refill Deutschland has a decent community maintained map that works better than the official one ever did.

Best tattoo artist in town?

i'd say skip the big names and look at studiowest in prenzlauer berg, they do amazing japanese style but the waitlist is like 6 months. if u want something quicker, the artists at bitterlich tattoo in mitte are super underrated, especially for fine line. and honestly, walk past the instagram hype, go to a shop in person and ask to see their portfolio book, that's where the real stuff is.

The Berlin tattoo scene is pretty spread out, so it depends on what style you're after. For fine line and minimalist work, I'd look at A Fine Line in Kreuzberg, they're booked out weeks in advance for a reason. If you want bold traditional, check out Die Wilde Ecke in Neukölln, they've been around forever and the artists there are solid. Honestly, your best bet is to scroll through Instagram and find someone whose healed work you like, not just the fresh photos, because that's where the real skill shows.

One thing nobody's mentioned yet is the tattoo convention at Arena Berlin, usually in early summer. It's a good way to see a bunch of styles in one afternoon and talk to artists face to face without committing to a shop. I found my guy there three years ago, he works out of a tiny studio near Boxhagener Platz and does amazing neo-traditional, but he rarely posts on Instagram so you'd never discover him otherwise. Bring cash if you go, a lot of the booths only take that on the day.
