I really love an environment where I can just do my thing and not be bothered. I have heard only good things about Berlin but I'm a bit intimidated. I will be traveling there solo and I only speak English. Is it hard to meet people?

I figured even if I don't I'll still have a good time dancing and listening to music..

any recommendations on where to stay where to stay? Preferably around an area that is alive! Thank you so much

Friedrichshain is your best bet for a lively base. I'd recommend the area around Boxhagener Platz, it's packed with bars and small clubs where people actually chat before heading out to dance. For meeting folks, try sitting at the bar at about:blank or Salon zur wilden Renate, the bartenders there are used to solo travelers and will help you feel less awkward. Sunday afternoon at Sisyphos is a solid intro to Berlin club culture, it's less intimidating than a Friday midnight queue.

honestly berlin is perfect for what you're looking for, solo dancing with zero pressure is basically the city's specialty. for area, neukölln around weserstrasse is super alive but still feels local, lots of bars where you can post up alone and people will chat you up at the bar. english is totally fine, especially in clubs where half the people aren't german anyway. if you're nervous about the door policy, try going to a place like kater blau on a thursday night when it's less strict, just be chill and say you're there for the music

You'll do fine with just English in Berlin, especially in clubs and bars. For meeting people, try a hostel like the Circus in Mitte or one of the East Side Gallery hostels they have common areas where solo travelers naturally connect. If you want an area that's alive, stay in Friedrichshain or Kreuzberg not Mitte which is more touristy. For dancing, check out ://about blank on a weekday when it's less intense or Sisyphos on a Sunday afternoon when the vibe is mellow and people are friendly.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
