I've seen them sold fresh sometimes but don't want to rely on them always. I think even some REWEs sell them (I know there is at least one in Leipzig that does so I assume that some do here too) but haven't had any luck...

Any pointers in the right direction would be appreciated :)

yeah Rewe is hit or miss tbh, the one at Friedrichstraße station usually has a small italian import section near the pasta aisle, they stock Mutti canned tomatoes which are technically San Marzano style but not DOP. if you want the real DOP ones, check out Il Mio Supermercato on Kantstraße, they have a solid selection of imported italian goods including the legit San Marzano cans for around 3-4€. also Galeria on Hermannplatz has them sometimes in their fancy food section.

The Edeka at Hermannplatz has a surprisingly good Italian section in the basement, right next to the pasta. They stock the big 800g cans of Strianese San Marzano DOP for about 4.50, which is a fair price. If you're near Kreuzberg, the small Italian grocery on Graefestraße near the U-Bahn exit has a few options too, and the owner usually has the fresh basil plants out front.

honestly just go to any italian deli, there's tons of them around. the one on Torstraße near U Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz has like 5 brands of San Marzano DOP, and they're not crazy expensive either. Galeria's selection is overpriced imo

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
