We arrive next month. Are you all aware of discount passes where multiple tickets for venues can be purchased? Child friendly, fun, educational, active and not active? Can be pools, zoo, museums, interactive science and art etc.... Ages 3-12.

the berlin welcome card with the museum island option is probably ur best bet for a bundle, but for kids specifically look into the "familypass" from bezirksämter - it gives huge discounts on pools and some museums if ur registered in berlin. also check out the "museumssonntag" thing where entry is free on the first sunday of the month, covers most state museums like the naturkundemuseum which is great for the 3-12 range. for the zoo, the jahreskarte is worth it if you'll go more than twice, otherwise just buy a regular ticket online to skip the line

oh yeah the "museumsinsel" kids tour is honestly overhyped for little ones, but the "feuerwehr museum" is a hidden gem and super cheap on its own. also check out the "spielplatz" app for free outdoor stuff, plus some libraries lend out "berlinpass" for like 10 euro a year if you're low income, covers a ton of stuff.

honestly the "ferienpass" is worth checking out if you're here during summer break, the districts put them out for like 10-15 euros and you get into pools, some museums, and even climbing parks for free or cheap. also look into "kinderkulturmonat" if you're still around in october, it's a whole month of free workshops and entry to a bunch of places for kids.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
