Whos the famous person in the Adlon?

As per title. Lots of police and fancy cars! As per title. Lots of police and fancy cars!

tbh could be anyone from a tech CEO to a Saudi prince, the Adlon gets all types. if you saw a bunch of plainclothes guys with earpieces standing around the lobby entrance, that's usually a sign it's someone with serious security detail. i once saw the whole block shut down for some Bollywood star nobody in Berlin had heard of, so don't assume it's a politician just cause of the police presence

Could be someone from the US embassy, they use the Adlon a lot for visiting delegations and the security detail is always massive. If you saw a bunch of motorcycles with blue lights escorting, that's usually the protocol for a head of state or someone with diplomatic immunity. Worth checking Bild's website later, they usually have the "who was that" gossip within a few hours.

Hard to say without more detail, but the Adlon is where a lot of VIPs stay when they're in town for things like the Berlinale or state visits. If you saw a bunch of police with black sedans (probably Audis or Mercedes S-Classes), it's likely a diplomat or a politician. Check if the Brandenburg Gate side was blocked off, that usually means a motorcade coming from the Chancellery.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
