I'm lonely, anyone wanna hang?

Mild social anxiety:) I love books, movies, shows, video games but mostly movies. I want to start a chess team. I also love to cook the most random bullshit thrown at me.

If random food and shitting on literature is something you'd be instrested in, please him me up. I'm totally open to any other interests. Board games. Dnd. I'm just lonely here and I need to figure out a way out of my current hibernation state. Thanks, dm me if you'd like to hang!

You should check out the Berlin English Conversation Club meetups. They happen at a few different bars around the city and are full of people in the exact same boat. I know someone who goes to the one at Mikkeller Berlin on Torstraße, it's a good mix of expats and locals who just want to chat in English. The atmosphere is super low pressure, no one cares if your German is meh.

honestly the social anxiety thing is real here, berlin can feel super isolating even when you're surrounded by people. have you tried the game night at cafe kaputt in friedrichshain? it's every wednesday around 7, mostly board games and some dnd groups forming, and nobody cares if your german is shaky because half the room is expats anyway. the cook what you got thing is also a solid icebreaker, throw a dinner party with a theme like "random fridge leftovers" and see who shows up, i've done it before and it worked better than any club night. for chess, there's a little group that meets at the bar at weserstrasse 40 on sunday afternoons, they use a chess clock and everything but it's super casual

If you're into movies, go to Kino Central in Mitte on a Monday. They do English screenings of older cult films and the crowd is usually chatty at the bar after. I've met a few people there just by talking about what we watched. Also for chess, try looking up Berlin Chess Club on Meetup, they meet at various cafes around Neukölln and are super patient with beginners.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
