The SAVVY apartments?

I just wanted to ask if any one of you lives in the savvy apartments (https://www.savvy.de) or if you know if they are legit? I know they're very expensive for what they are but I'm just looking for a temporary place to settle in before finding an actually reasonably priced flat. Thanks!!

I've had a couple of friends crash there when they first moved here. It's legit but the whole concept feels like a hostel that forgot to put in a proper common area. For the price of a month there you could get two months in a Zwischenmiete near Samariterstraße or Warschauer, which is the same neighborhood and you'd actually have your own kitchen. If you do go with SAVVY, just check which floor you're on because the lower ones can get noise from the bar downstairs on Boxhagener.

i know someone who stayed there for 3 months while their renovation got delayed. it's legit, just overpriced. the shared kitchens can be hit or miss depending on your floor. honestly for the same money you could get a month-to-month sublet in neukölln or wedding with your own kitchen, way more space to breathe while you search

Yeah I've walked past that building a few times, it's definitely a real place in Friedrichshain if that's the one you're looking at. It's legit but you're right about the price, pretty steep for what's basically a furnished studio with a shared kitchen.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
