where to stay in rennes for a month?

heading to rennes in about 5 months for a full month, trying to figure out which neighborhood to base myself in. i like walkable areas with cafes and markets, any suggestions on where feels most local… heading to rennes in about 5 months for a full month, trying to figure out which neighborhood to base myself in. i like walkable areas with cafes and markets, any suggestions on where feels most local?

honestly the colombier area is slept on for a month long stay. it's this big 70s development right next to the centre but it's got its own vibe with the square where they do the food truck thing on fridays. the marché des lices is still like a 15 min walk but you also have the marché de colombier on wednesdays which is smaller and way more chill. plus you're right next to the parc du thabor which is perfect for lazy afternoons

the saint-helier area by the gare is worth a look too. it's got that old worker quarter vibe with a few nice spots like la fabrique a pain for bread and the marché des lices is still a 10 min walk. rent tends to be a bit cheaper there and you're right on the metro for when you want to go further out

théâtre de la cité area is solid for that. you've got the lices market saturday mornings which is huge and very local, plus a bunch of small cafes on rue vasselot and rue saint-melaine that are open late. the whole thing is walkable to the centre but feels way less touristy than stuff near the cathedral
