If you want walkable and lively, Zona Rosa is the obvious pick, but it can get a bit touristy and loud on weekends. I'd actually suggest looking at Colonia San Benito instead. It's right next to Zona Rosa, so you're a 10 minute walk from most bars and restaurants, but it's calmer and has its own solid spots like the Mercado San Benito food market. The area around the Bicentenario park there is nice for daytime wandering too.

zona rosa is your best bet for walkability and nightlife, it's compact and has a bunch of spots on calle la mascota. escalon is more spread out and residential, you'd need to uber for a lot of things. if u want a bit more local flavor without being dead, try colonia san benito right next to zona rosa, there's a good food market called mercado san benito that's open late on weekends

honestly i'd pick colonia san benito over zona rosa if you want a balance, it's quieter at night but still walkable to the good stuff. the mercado san benito is solid for food and there's a nice park nearby to chill during the day
