i've done this exact route a few times and the timing for the museum on day 1 is key - it's actually a 15 minute walk from laojie snack street if you cut through the small lane behind the post office, not 10, so add a few minutes. also the bus 101 to yangming mountain has a stop right at the lingling bus station but the sign is faded and easy to miss, it's the grey one on the far left of the platform. for the qiyang tea garden, their cold brew osmanthus is better than the hot version imo, ask the owner for it, he keeps a pitcher in the back fridge that most tourists don't know about
been to yongzhou a few times for work and this itinerary is pretty well put together. one thing i'd add for day 1 - the lingling ancient city wall gets really crowded after 4pm when the tour groups roll in, so go early morning instead, like 7am, it's totally empty and the light is nice for photos. also the night market near the wall has this one stall selling grilled tofu skin with chili oil that's insane, it's the third one from the north entrance, the lady with the blue apron, 5 yuan for a skewer.
for qiyang county, if you have an extra hour skip the confucian temple and walk 10 minutes east to the old canal area instead, there's a stretch of ming dynasty houses that aren't marked on maps but locals use as shortcuts, really atmospheric. the tea garden is good but the osmanthus tea runs out by 2pm so get there early if you want it.
ngl the lingling district stuff is solid but you're missing the best breakfast spot in town. there's a tiny shop on yuxi road called lao zhang's, no english sign, just a red banner, opens at 6am and sells youtiao and soy milk for like 3 yuan total, way better than the hotel breakfast. also for day 2 on yangming mountain, if you're there in spring the wild azaleas bloom along the back trail around the 4km mark, makes the whole hike smell kinda sweet and floral. the farmhouse lunch is legit but bring cash like they said, i learned that the hard way when my card got declined and had to wash dishes for an hour lol

the liuzi temple tip is solid but honestly i think the best part is the little garden out back, most people rush through the main hall and miss it. there's a tiny pond with koi and a stone bridge that's perfect for sitting and reading for a bit.
for a cheap meal, skip the tourist spots near the ancient city and walk a block or two inland. there's a family-run place on wenhua road that does a killer fish head stew for like 25 rmb, no english sign but you'll smell it before you see it. opens around 11 am and closes when they run out, usually by 2 pm.
the night market on zhongshan road is good but if you want the real deal head to the small lane behind the bus station around 9 pm, it's where locals go. the grilled fish skewers there are half the price and way spicier than the ones on the main strip. just bring cash, most of those stalls don't take wechat pay.
honestly the xiao river cruise is nice but i think the morning one is way better than evening. the mist sits on the water and you can see the old ladies doing tai chi on the banks, it's kinda magical. also if you go on a weekday the boats are like half empty, i had one basically to myself last tuesday
for the kiln museum, the free pottery workshop thing is only on thursdays and fridays, i showed up on a wednesday and they just pointed at the display cases. still worth it though, the old kiln site behind the museum is pretty rad, you can see where they used to fire the ceramics centuries ago
yeah the ancient city is cool but honestly the best time to go is right after a rain, the stone streets get all shiny and the smell of wet earth mixes with the incense from the little temples. i stumbled on a tiny puppet show in one of the side alleys near the north gate, just some old guy with a wooden box, charged 5 rmb and did a 20 minute performance, felt like i time traveled or something
also if you're into photography the old city wall is way better at golden hour, the light hits the brickwork and makes it look almost orange. most people do the night market thing but the wall itself is pretty empty after 8 pm, you can sit up there and watch the river without anyone bothering you
