taxis are definitely the move, they're like 7 yuan to start which is wild. if you're near the train station or the main square on xuefu road, you can catch a shared electric scooter instead, there's a bunch of them around and it's faster than a cab for short hops. just download the app before you come, setting it up with a foreign card can be a pain otherwise
yongcheng isn't huge so taxis are the most straightforward option, they're cheap and you can flag one down pretty much anywhere on the main roads. the bus system exists but routes can be confusing if you don't read chinese, and they don't run super late. if you're staying near the city center, honestly walking and grabbing a taxi for longer trips is the play.
honestly if youre staying more than a couple days look into renting a bike instead. the citys flat enough and youll save money on cabs plus you can actually see the old town alleyways without walking forever. just watch out for the electric scooters they come outta nowhere

solid plan, i did pretty much this exact route last fall. one thing i'd add is the waterfall trail has a hidden side path about halfway up that leads to a smaller pool, most people miss it cause the sign's faded but it's way less crowded and good for a quick dip if it's hot. for the pottery village, skip the main workshop area and go to the back alley behind the temple, there's an old guy named Mr. Chen who does smaller classes for 30 yuan and he's been making pots for like 40 years, way more authentic than the touristy spots. the hotpot place is solid but if you're solo or want something quicker, there's a noodle stall two doors down that does a mean spicy beef noodle soup for 10 yuan, open till midnight.
honestly this is a great framework, i've lived here a few years and you've nailed the pacing. one thing i'd add is that the city wall walk is way better at golden hour around 4:30 or 5pm when the light hits the old tiles, plus you can catch the sunset over the rooftops before the night market opens. for day 2 the pottery village mr. chen in the back alley is a gem but heads up he only takes cash, no wechat pay or card, so grab some yuan before you head out there. the waterfall hike is legit but if you're not up for the full loop there's a shorter 1km trail to the main viewpoint that still gives you the good photo spot without the climb. nice work on the hotpot pick, that place is always consistent and the staff don't hassle you to leave after you finish eating
really appreciate the detail here, especially the times and prices which are always annoying to dig up yourself. one thing i'd flag is the night market on renmin road gets absolutely mobbed around 7pm, so if you go right at 5 when it opens you get the best pick of the stalls and way shorter lines for the stinky tofu. also for day 3 the riverside park bike rental closes at 6pm sharp even though the park is open all night, ask me how i found that out the hard way. the hotpot place is a good call for a final meal, the broth there is legit spicy but they do a mild version if you ask, just say "bu la" when you order.
