oh man this is a solid list, i've done most of these myself. one thing i'd add for Linhai is the walk from the Jiangnan Great Wall down to Ziyang Old Street is gorgeous but it's like 4 km of steps so wear good shoes. also if you're there on a weekend the egg pancake stalls near the south gate get a line around 11am, i'd go early or grab one from the smaller cart further up the street instead. the guide's right about cash for Dalu Island too, the ferry ticket guy didn't take wechat last time i went, just coins and small bills.

the guide's right about Tiantai but i'd actually recommend going up the back way from the Shiliang Waterfall parking lot instead of the main entrance. takes you past this tiny tea village where old ladies dry leaves on bamboo mats and they'll sell you fresh oolong for like 20 yuan a bag. the trail connects to the main temple path about 2km up so you skip the tourist buses entirely. just watch for snakes in summer, saw a bamboo viper there last may

Great list, I've used it a few times myself. One thing for Linhai: if you walk the full wall from the south gate to the north gate, you'll end up near the old city wall museum which is free and has some cool models of how the defenses worked. Also the scallion pancakes from the lady with the cart near the north gate exit are better than the ones in Ziyang Old Street and cost 3 yuan instead of 8.

The guide's pretty thorough, but one thing it doesn't mention is that the shared e-bikes around Jiaojiang usually need a QR code scan through Alipay, and the app can be finicky with foreign accounts. If you're stuck, the bus route 101 from the train station goes straight past Jiaojiang Old Street and costs 2 RMB, which saves you the hassle.

For the seafood noodles at Lao Taizhou, the broth is the real standout. It's got this milky white color from the clams that most places don't get right. I've also noticed the fried oysters at the night market are better if you ask for extra chili sauce on the side, the standard portion is a bit mild.

Used this guide last fall and it's accurate. One thing I'd add is that the shared e-bikes around Jiaojiang Old Street have a specific parking zone near the east gate, otherwise the app charges you a 20 RMB fee for leaving them outside the area. I learned that the hard way.

If you're doing Tiantai Mountain and Shenxianju back to back, stay overnight in the Tiantai county town instead of going back to Jiaojiang. There's a decent budget place called Tiantai Guesthouse near the bus station for around 150 RMB, and it saves you two hours of round trip driving the next morning.

The osmanthus cake tip is right on. Xianju Pastry Shop opens at 8am and they usually sell out by 11am on weekends. I grabbed the last one at 10:45 and the lady behind me was not happy.

fwiw the guide's right about the weather but spring here is super unpredictable. i went in april last year and it was sunny then rained then hazy all in one afternoon. pack a light rain jacket even if the forecast says clear.

one thing i haven't seen mentioned is the morning market near the east side of jiaojiang old street. it's like 6am to 9am and locals sell fresh seafood, pickled veggies, and these steamed buns with pork that are 1 rmb each. way better than the tourist stuff later in the day and you get to see how people actually shop here.

for the linghu lake promenade, go at sunset not midday. the light hits the pagoda on the east side and the whole thing glows orange. there's a tea stand near the south entrance that does jasmine tea for 5 rmb, perfect for walking the path.
