What to eat in Taixing?

I'm heading to Taixing in a couple months and hoping to find some good local food. Any must-try dishes or hidden gem restaurants I should hit up? I'm heading to Taixing in a couple months and hoping to find some good local food. Any must-try dishes or hidden gem restaurants I should hit up?

If the hairy crab hype feels played out, check out the street food scene around the old temple on qinglong road after sunset. One vendor there does these crispy fried river snails with loads of garlic and chili, I think it's 15 yuan a bowl and you'll see locals lining up. For something sweeter, the sesame cakes from a little bakery on yixian street are still warm when they come out, flaky on the outside and soft inside.

ngl the hairy crab is good but if you're here for a proper meal find a place doing yangtze river white fish, usually steamed with ginger and scallion. there's a spot called jiang xian ji on guoqing east road that does it right, the flesh just flakes off. also don't skip the fried river shrimp at any local joint, they're tiny and you eat em whole, great with beer

taixing is all about the river food honestly. you gotta try the steamed hairy crab when it's in season, it's a whole thing here. for something more everyday, hit up a place called lao ma tou near the old ferry dock for their fish head soup - it's super fresh and they do this fermented tofu dip on the side that's killer. if u want a quick bite, grab some xiaolongbao from the morning stalls on renmin road, they're cheap and the broth is legit.
