solid write-up, pretty comprehensive. one thing i'd add is that the shengjian at that guanqian street stall can be hit or miss depending on the time of day. if you go around 11am when they're fresh out of the pan they're incredible but later in the afternoon they get a bit cold and oily. i've had better luck at the place on gongxiang road just south of guanqian, tiny joint with a red sign, they do a mean shengjian and their xiaolongbao is decent too.
also for the budget eats, the muslim noodle shop on shiquan street is legit but it gets packed at lunch. if you don't mind a bit of a wait it's worth it though, that broth is rich and the beef is tender. i'd skip the food court at suzhou center mall tbh, it's overpriced for what it is. instead head to the little alley behind the mall near jinji lake, there's a lady who sells scallion pancakes for like 6 kuai and they're way better than anything in that food court.
the guide mentions shantang street night market but honestly i think the real move is to go during the day instead. the crowds are way thinner and you can actually enjoy walking along the canal without bumping into people. there's a small vendor near the south end of the street that does fresh osmanthus tofu pudding for like 8 kuai, it's light and slightly sweet and way better than the stuff they sell at the night stalls. also if you're near the lingering garden for those osmanthus cakes, the ones from the old lady with the blue cart are the best, she's been there for years and uses real flower petals not just syrup
nice writeup, really thorough. one thing i'd add is that the squirrel fish at song he lou is famously good but honestly i think de yue lou does it slightly better, the sauce is tangier and the fish stays crisp longer. if you're going to song he lou anyway, get the braised pork belly instead, it's their hidden gem and melts in your mouth.
for tea houses, wang si is solid but a bit touristy. i prefer the smaller place on pingjiang road, no english name but it's near the bridge with the wisteria. you get better biluochun for like 40 kuai and they do these tiny sesame cakes that are perfect with the tea. the older ladies running it are super nice too, they'll show you how to brew it properly if you ask.

for day 2, if you're into photography the gate of the orient at jinji lake looks incredible just before sunset when the glass reflects the orange sky, there's a small pier on the east side that gives you the best angle without the ferris wheel blocking the view. also the metro from shantang street to culture expo center is about 30 minutes including the transfer at leqiao, not 25, so plan accordingly
one practical tip they missed: the public bathrooms near the gardens are clean but bring your own toilet paper, it's hit or miss if they have any stocked. also the line for the suzhou museum standby can be 40 minutes even on weekdays, so definitely pre-book or skip it for the gardens if you're short on time
nice to see someone put together a proper itinerary for suzhou instead of just the same old tourist traps. i've been going there for years and one thing i'd add is that the gondola rides on pingjiang road are actually better at like 9pm when the crowds thin out, the lanterns reflect on the water way better and the rowers are less rushed. the 60 yuan price is standard but they'll try to upsell you on the longer route, just stick with the basic one.
for day 2, tiger hill is worth the climb but the real hidden gem is the small sword testing stone near the pagoda, it's this massive rock with a crack down the middle that legend says was split by a warrior testing his blade. most people walk right past it but theres a tiny sign in chinese if you look for it.
the shiquan street suggestion for day 3 is good but the noodles at tong de xing are a bit overrated imo, the broth is too sweet for my taste. if you walk two blocks south to jiajia noodles on wuyi road they do a mean braised pork belly noodle soup for 18 yuan thats way more savory, their queue moves fast too.

One thing I'd add is that the Suzhou Museum's online reservation system opens at 8:00 AM exactly seven days in advance, and weekend slots vanish within 15 minutes. Set an alarm if you're visiting on a Saturday.
For Day 2, the walk from Shantang Street to Tiger Hill along the canal is lovely but you'll pass a small wonton shop called Xiao Yuan at the halfway point that does a mean bowl of soup dumplings for 8 yuan. It's easy to miss since there's no English sign, just look for the red banner with white characters.
