What to eat in Shishi?

Headed to Shishi in about 4 months and starting to research the food scene. What are the must-try local dishes or hidden gem restaurants I shouldn't miss? ngl the replies so far are solid but theyre missing the street snack game. if youre near the harbor around 4pm look for carts selling o a jian - its a crispy oyster omelette with sweet chili sauce, costs like 8 yuan. the texture is way better than the ones in Xiamen, less greasy and more eggy. also the shacha noodles at that joint next to the old bus station on Qunying Road are underrated, they use this smoky peanut sauce that pairs well with the pork liver. just be ready for a wait around lunch, it gets packed with locals

honestly the seafood is where it's at in Shishi, being a coastal city and all. You gotta try the mianxian hu which is this super rich noodle soup with dried clams and pork, it's a local breakfast staple that'll keep u full for hours. For a hidden gem, hit up the night market near Wuli Street around 8pm, there's a stall run by an old couple that does grilled oysters with garlic and chili, it's like 15 yuan for a dozen and way better than the touristy spots downtown.

Yeah the seafood is definitely the move but don't sleep on bian rou - it's like these little wontons in a clear broth, super light and perfect after a day at the beach. There's a no-name spot on Jiushi Road that's been doing it for decades, just look for the plastic stools outside.
