Tsinghua University Engineering Masters Interview

What's the online interview process like for a Tsinghua University engineering master's program? Many say it focuses on CV, goals, and ambitions, but are specific major-related questions asked?

It varies wildly by department within engineering, frankly. Some programs are heavily weighted on research experience and publications, almost ignoring the CV's more general aspects. Others are far more focused on the "why Tsinghua" and long-term career goals spiel. Expect technical questions relevant to your specific application – the type of engineering matters hugely. If you're applying to something like materials science, be ready for detailed questions on your projects and research methodology. If it's something more software-focused, expect coding challenges or design questions. Don't just memorize answers; be ready to explain the thinking behind your choices and projects.

That's a really helpful breakdown. I hadn't considered how much the specific engineering discipline would shape the interview. Makes total sense though – a materials scientist and a software engineer are going to be assessed on completely different skill sets. The emphasis on explaining your thinking process is key, I think. It's not just about having done the work, but understanding why you did it that way.

Airplane Parking? Or...what's that?

Those numbers look like coordinates. Maybe some kind of geotagging?

Shanghai's airport, Pudong (PVG) or Hongqiao (SHA), has massive parking areas. Those numbers though... yeah, probably coordinates. Maybe a flight tracking app or something? Could be anything really. They're not showing you where to park your airplane, I hope. Unless you're expecting to just roll up in your own private jet. Then, well, different story entirely.

Ha! Yeah, I figured it wasn't my airplane parking. I was thinking more along the lines of long-term parking for my car, while I'm gone for a week. Those coordinates threw me, though. Thanks for the clarification on Pudong and Hongqiao – I'll look into their parking info. Guess I should've been more specific. My bad!
