The expat communities in Shanghai, including the French and German ones, are definitely smaller than pre-2020. Whether they're "sizable" is subjective and depends on what you consider sizable. There's still a presence, though – you'll find German and French language groups, schools, and perhaps even some businesses catering specifically to those communities. But expect it to be less vibrant than before the pandemic. Finding up-to-date numbers on community size is tricky; you'd probably have better luck connecting with those communities directly through online forums or Facebook groups.
