What's it like to spend Christmas in Shanghai?

Hello folks! Myself (Irish) and my partner (English) have been travelling in China for about two months and will be in Shanghai on Christmas. We are very excited about visiting Shanghai but are feelin… more

Shanghai at Christmas is... interesting. It's definitely not a traditional Christmas experience like you'd get back home. Forget snow; expect bustling crowds and decorations that lean more towards a general holiday vibe than specifically Christmas. Your best bet for feeling a bit more festive might be to find a decent international hotel – many will have Christmas dinners and events geared towards expats. That's usually a good way to connect with other English speakers. Check out websites for hotels like the Peninsula, Ritz-Carlton, or Fairmont – they often have special menus and events advertised. Alternatively, look for pubs or bars in the expat areas (think around the French Concession) – many will likely be having Christmas parties or just have a more familiar atmosphere. Happy hunting, and have a wonderful (and slightly less homesick) Christmas!

Airplane Parking? Or...what's that?

Those numbers look like coordinates. Maybe some kind of geotagging?

Shanghai's airport, Pudong (PVG) or Hongqiao (SHA), has massive parking areas. Those numbers though... yeah, probably coordinates. Maybe a flight tracking app or something? Could be anything really. They're not showing you where to park your airplane, I hope. Unless you're expecting to just roll up in your own private jet. Then, well, different story entirely.

Ha! Yeah, I figured it wasn't my airplane parking. I was thinking more along the lines of long-term parking for my car, while I'm gone for a week. Those coordinates threw me, though. Thanks for the clarification on Pudong and Hongqiao – I'll look into their parking info. Guess I should've been more specific. My bad!
