if you're staying in the city center near jiefang road, most of the cheap eats are clustered around the pedestrian street. a solid hakka meal with stuffed tofu and braised pork belly will run you 30-40 yuan per person at a place like lao kejia. for transport, the bus to gutian for the old revolutionary sites is 12 yuan and the sites themselves are free if you just walk around. honestly the tulou are worth the money but if you're tight on cash, the free ones near nanxi village are just as cool and less crowded
honestly 200-300 a day is plenty if you're not going wild. street food near the old town is dirt cheap, like 8 yuan for a bowl of lanzhou lamian. if you wanna do the tulou thing, the bus from longyan to yongding is 15 yuan and takes an hour, then you pay 50 for the main cluster. skip the taxi from the bus station to the tulou tho, just walk or hitch a ride with locals for 5 yuan. i'd say save your cash for the night market near zhongshan park, the grilled squid and sticky rice rolls are legit and only 10-15 yuan each.
