Best day trips from Jingcheng?

I'm heading to Jingcheng in a couple months and want to squeeze in a few day trips. Any must-see spots within a couple hours drive? I'm heading to Jingcheng in a couple months and want to squeeze in a few day trips. Any must-see spots within a couple hours drive?

If you're up for a bit of a drive, head south to the old salt town of Bad Sooden-Allendorf. It's about an hour from Jingcheng and has a lovely half-timbered old quarter that feels like a time warp. You can visit the graduation tower at the salt works, where the air is supposed to be good for your lungs, and grab a coffee at one of the small cafes on the market square. It's quieter than the bigger tourist towns, which I like.

fwiw theres a really cool old monastery about 40 mins east in Spangenberg. the treppenburg is this massive half-timbered castle on a hill that does tours, but honestly the best part is just walking around the grounds and the little village below. the bakery on the main street makes these incredible cinnamon rolls for like 2 euros and theres a tiny brewery nearby that does tastings on saturdays. way less crowded than the big tourist traps

The Eder Dam is about 45 minutes west and makes for a solid day trip. You can walk along the top of the dam wall, and there's a little museum inside that covers the 1943 bombing raid that breached it. The reservoir is surrounded by hiking trails, and in summer you can rent a little pedal boat. Pack a picnic since the snack stand is overpriced and the food's mediocre.
