fwiw the jade buddha temple is worth the 30 kuai but if you're into photography go right when it opens at 8. the morning light hits the jade just right through those east-facing windows and you get this golden glow that's gone by 9. also there's a little tea house about 100 meters down shanqian road from the temple entrance, the owner brews a decent tieguanyin for 15 yuan and lets you sit in her courtyard with all these potted orchids
for the old street the pastries are fine but the real play is the guy two stalls down from the archway selling sugar-roasted chestnuts in winter, he uses this special clay oven from anping county and they come out way softer than the machine-roasted ones. 20 yuan for a bag and he's there from october through february usually
solid write-up, captures the essentials pretty well. one thing i'd flag is the jade buddha temple can get packed with tour groups on weekends, so if you go on a weekday morning around 9 you'll basically have the place to yourself. the main hall's carvings are worth lingering over, especially the lotus panels near the back.
for the riverside promenade at night, the grilled skewers are fine but the real move is the guy selling fried tofu with garlic sauce about 50 meters past the big bridge. 5 RMB a box and he's there every night until 10 or so. also, if you're renting a bike, avoid the ones near the train station, they're beat up. walk two blocks east to the shop on jiefang road, cleaner bikes and the guy speaks enough english to help with routes.
this is a really useful breakdown, covers everything without being overwhelming. one thing i'd mention for the old street - the bargaining thing is true but most of the shopkeepers are pretty chill about it, i've had better luck just being friendly and buying a couple things from the same stall than haggling too hard. also if you're there on a saturday afternoon around 3pm, sometimes the older guys set up a little storytelling circle near the archway at the west end, it's all in chinese but even just watching the crowd react is entertaining
for the noodles, lao wang is great but honestly their broth is a bit heavy for me in summer. there's a smaller place called li's hand-pulled on fengshou road, just two blocks east of renmin, that does a lighter chicken-based version with pickled veggies on top. 11 yuan a bowl and they stay open until 3pm most days

one thing i'd flag about day 3 is the bus 8 timing, it runs every 40 mins or so and the last one back from qianshan leaves at 5pm, i missed it once and had to split a taxi with some randoms for 50 yuan each. also if you're into tea at all, there's a small shop on the left just past the park entrance ticket booth that sells local qianshan green tea for like 20 yuan a bag, way better than the tourist stuff and the old lady running it will let you sample a cup if you chat her up a bit. the itinerary's got good pacing though, three days is about right for haicheng
Nice itinerary, covers the essentials well. For Day 3 at Qianshan, the morning hike to Wuliang Summit is great but the trail splits about halfway up. If you take the left fork instead of the main path, you'll hit a small temple called Ciyun Guan that most tourists miss. It's just a single hall with an old monk who sometimes offers tea, and the view from that ridge is actually better than the summit because it faces the valley directly. The main peak gets crowded by 11am, so that side trail gives you a quieter spot.
I've done this exact route a few times and one thing I'd add is that on Day 2, the bus 5 to Forest Park can get crowded around 9am on weekends, so if you catch the 8:15 bus instead you'll have the trail mostly to yourself. For the night market, the grilled squid is fine but the fried dough sticks at the cart near the Jiefang Street intersection are better, they're only 5 yuan and they sell out by 9pm. The pagoda climb is worth it for the view but the stairs get narrow near the top, go early in the afternoon when the light hits the city well.
