🍜 Must-Try Noodle Houses
For an authentic taste of Guankou, head to Old Town Noodle Shop at 12 Zhongshan Road. Their hand-pulled beef noodles cost 18 yuan and are served from 7 AM to 9 PM daily. The broth is simmered for over eight hours, giving it a deep, savory flavor.

🥟 Dumpling Delights
Dumpling King at 45 Renmin Street offers pork and chive dumplings for 12 yuan per dozen. They are made fresh to order, and the crispy pan-fried version is a local favorite. Arrive before noon to avoid the lunch rush.

🍢 Street Food Stalls
The night market on Wenhua Road comes alive after 6 PM with dozens of stalls. Try the spicy grilled skewers at Stall 8, where lamb and chicken hearts cost 5 yuan each. The smoky aroma and lively atmosphere make it a must-visit.

🍲 Hotpot Hotspots
Spicy Pot Paradise at 88 Binjiang East Road serves a fiery Sichuan-style hotpot. A two-person set meal costs 128 yuan and includes a choice of broth, meats, and vegetables. Book ahead on weekends as it gets packed by 7 PM.

🍰 Sweet Treats
For dessert, visit Sweet Memory Bakery at 3 Jiefang Road. Their egg tarts are 4 yuan each and come out of the oven at 10 AM and 3 PM. The flaky crust and silky custard are a perfect afternoon pick-me-up.

🥘 Local Specialties
Guankou's signature dish is braised pork belly with preserved vegetables, best sampled at Grandma's Kitchen at 21 Heping Lane. A hearty portion costs 35 yuan and is served with steamed rice. The restaurant closes at 8 PM, so plan an early dinner.

🍵 Tea and Snacks
Take a break at Tea Garden House at 66 Lakeside Avenue, where a pot of jasmine tea costs 15 yuan. They also serve savory rice cakes for 8 yuan, a popular local snack. The garden seating offers a peaceful escape from the busy streets.

💰 Budget Tips
Most street food items cost between 5 and 15 yuan, while a sit-down meal at a mid-range restaurant runs 30 to 60 yuan per person. Carry small bills as many stalls do not accept cards. Lunch specials at larger restaurants often save you 20 percent off dinner prices.

the guide's right about Dumpling King but honestly the pan-fried ones are the move. i always grab an extra order of their vinegar dipping sauce, it's house-made and way better than the standard stuff. also if you're at Sweet Memory Bakery for the egg tarts, try the red bean cake too, it's 6 yuan and they only make like 30 a day so get there by 11

solid list, only thing i'd add is the cold noodle stall that pops up on Zhongshan around 11am, right near the Old Town Noodle Shop. it's just a lady with a cart but her sesame sauce noodles are 8 yuan and way lighter than the beef ones, perfect for a hot day. she's usually gone by 1pm though

fwiw the guide's list is solid but they missed one of my favorites - the little skewer cart that parks outside the bus station on Renmin after 8pm. old guy runs it, no stall number, just a cart with a red lantern. his pork belly skewers are 4 yuan each and he brushes them with this sweet soy glaze that's way better than the night market stuff. just bring cash and be ready to point at what u want since he doesn't speak much mandarin

🍜 Where to Start
Begin your food tour at Guankou Night Market on Zhongshan Road, open daily from 5 PM to midnight. This bustling strip is packed with stalls selling local favorites like spicy crayfish and grilled skewers, with most items priced between 10 and 30 RMB.

🥟 Must-Try Dumplings
Head to Old Wang's Dumpling House at 88 Jiefang Street for their signature pork and chive dumplings, which cost 15 RMB for a plate of 12. The handmade wrappers and juicy filling have made this spot a local institution since 1998.

🍲 Hotpot Heaven
For a classic Sichuan hotpot experience, visit Chongqing Spicy Pot at 45 Renmin Avenue, where a full meal for two runs around 120 RMB. Their mala broth is intensely flavorful, and the fresh tripe and beef slices are crowd favorites.

🍢 Street Food Alley
Don't miss Snack Alley off Wenhua Road, a narrow lane lined with vendors selling stinky tofu, fried dough sticks, and tanghulu (candied hawthorn). Most items cost 5 to 15 RMB, and the alley is busiest between 6 and 9 PM.

🍚 Local Rice Noodles
Guankou's rice noodle scene shines at Sister Chen's Noodle Shop, located at 12 Heping Lane, open from 7 AM to 2 PM. Their signature beef rice noodles in rich broth cost 18 RMB and draw long queues before noon.

🥤 Sweet Treats
Cool off with a bowl of mango pomelo sago at Dessert Garden, 66 Zhongshan Road, where prices start at 25 RMB. This modern dessert shop also offers bubble tea and shaved ice, making it a popular afternoon hangout.

🍺 Evening Beer Gardens
For a lively evening, try Guankou Beer Plaza on Binjiang Road, where outdoor stalls serve grilled seafood and draft beer from 6 PM to 2 AM. A pitcher of local draft costs 40 RMB, and the riverside setting is perfect for warm nights.

The guide's right about Dessert Garden but the real hidden gem is the old school shaved ice place two blocks down on Zhongshan, no English sign, just says "Bing" in red letters. They shave the ice from a giant block by hand and the老板娘makes her own red bean paste and taro balls from scratch, a large bowl with three toppings is only 18 RMB. Way better than the trendy places and the owner's been doing it since the 90s.

Solid list. One thing I'd add is the cold sesame noodles at Zhang's on the corner of Wenhua and Heping, open from 11am to 8pm. 12 RMB for a bowl and their sesame paste is house-made, way thicker and nuttier than what you get at most places. I go there at least once a week in summer.

ngl the guide's solid but they totally slept on the late night snack scene after midnight. there's this guy with a cart near the south gate of the night market who does fried rice noodles with egg and pickled veggies, only 8 RMB and he's there till like 3am. perfect after a few beers at the plaza

also if you're into stinky tofu, skip the main stalls on Snack Alley and go to the old woman two lanes over who's been frying it for 30 years. hers is way less greasy and she gives u extra pickled cabbage if u smile at her
