Dandong hidden gems off the tourist trail?

I'm heading to Dandong in two months and want to find spots locals actually hang out at, not just the usual border things. Any lesser known food stalls or cool alleys I should check out? if you're up for a walk, head to the old hong'an district past the train station, there's a crumbling cinema from the 80s that still shows one movie a week, mostly older Chinese films. the courtyard out front has a couple of vendors selling jianbing in the morning and grilled corn at night, real cheap too like 3-5 kuai. also check out the tiny bridge over the ai river near binjiang road, it's not on any map but has a set of stone steps where people sit and drink tea from thermoses, feels like a different world from the border stuff

honestly skip the tourist traps near the train station and wander up behind the big department store on qingnian street, there's a cluster of old apartment buildings with a tiny courtyard where old guys play xiangqi all afternoon. if you're there around lunch, the lady in the blue apron sells cold noodles from a folding table, best suanla fen in town for like 8 kuai. also the alley off sanyi street near the post office has a guy who does grilled lamb skewers that are way better than the riverfront ones, he's only there after 7pm and usually runs out by 9

skip the riverfront for a bit and head up to jinjiangshan park, it's more of a local spot for evening walks than a tourist thing. there's a small alley off qingnian street near the market that has a guy selling tieban doufu from a cart around 5pm, gets a line of regulars. also if you want a proper meal without the border crowd, try the xiaolongbao place on shiyiwei road, it's tucked behind a hardware store and they do a mean spicy beef soup
