Expect a lot of closures in Chongqing the closer you get to Chinese New Year. Many businesses will start shutting down a week or even two before the official holiday begins, so plan accordingly. High-speed rail between Shenzhen and Chongqing should be fine during those dates, but be prepared for potentially more crowded trains than usual. Booking tickets in advance is highly recommended.
