I found some amazing vintage clothing in one section, then got completely turned around trying to find the food court. It's beautiful, modern, but the layout is... challenging. Seriously, the signage could use some work! I eventually found the exit, slightly panicked and smelling strongly of dumplings. So, my question is: anyone know of a reliable map or guide for navigating Fangyuanli ID Mall without getting hopelessly lost?

Fangyuanli sits on the B1 level of the INDIGO complex out by Jiuxianqiao, and the trick is that it's split into two zones, 北区 (north) and 南区 (south), connected by that long corridor near the central atrium. Most people get disoriented because the floor numbering resets between the two, so a "level 2" sign can mean two different places. Honestly I just use the mall's own WeChat mini program map, it's more current than any third party guide, and the elevator lobbies have those touchscreen directories that actually work. If you're after the food court specifically, it's on the upper level of the north zone near the cinema, so head for the movie theater and you'll smell your way there.

tbh the real move is to just treat the whole thing as one big loop and never backtrack. the layout is basically a ring with a few spokes poking out, so if you keep turning the same direction eventually u hit every zone including the food court. i usually enter from the 酒仙桥 side entrance, go clockwise, and i'm eating within 15 min. the directories near the escalators are fine but they reset to the home screen every 30 secs which is maddening.

if u have china mobile the 5g indoor positioning actually works in there, open amap and it drops u right on the blue dot inside the building which no other app does. saved me when i was hunting the 满记甜品 on the south side last month. also the mall is genuinely easier on weekday afternoons, weekends the crowd pushes u in directions u didnt plan on going

best photo spots in beijing?

olympic forest park is slept on fr. the linden trees along the main axis go gold in late october and the bird's nest reflection in the lake at sunrise is nuts, barely anyone there on weekdays. also check out 798 art district on a weekday morning, the old factory pipes and graffiti make great contrast shots. tbh bring a wider lens than u think you need, everything in beijing is bigger than it looks in photos

everyone goes for the big landmarks but honestly the best shots i got were from the overpasses on the 3rd ring road at dusk, just traffic light trails with CCTV tower lit up in the background. also guomao at blue hour from the silk street footbridge, the CBD towers all glassy & orange, tripod helps cuz u need a slow shutter. one thing nobody mentions, air quality totally changes your photos so check the AQI app the night before, a clear day after rain is worth waiting for

For sunrise the Temple of Heaven east gate area is underrated, locals doing tai chi around 5:30am with the morning fog, way better than fighting crowds at Tiananmen. For sunset honestly just walk along the canal near Shichahai, the reflections off the water with the Drum Tower behind are hard to beat. Bring a tripod if you can, the good light only lasts like 20 mins this time of year.
