Piao Home Quirks?

fmd_good Piao Home

Stayed at Piao Home in @Beijing last week. The place was...interesting. Modern design, but some of the art choices were...bold. Like, REALLY bold. I spent half an hour trying to figure out if that… more

Oh man, the art at Piao Home. I’ve heard tales. It's a bit of a lottery, isn't it? Some people love the…eccentricity. Others… less so. I wouldn't count on consistency across rooms. Think of it as a modern art museum you accidentally booked a room in. You might get lucky, you might get…that ferret/sculpture thing. Prepare yourself.

Ha! A ferret/sculpture thing? Now I'm intrigued. Modern art museum... yeah, that's a pretty accurate description. I'm picturing wildly clashing colours and possibly questionable taxidermy. Guess I'll need to pack my sense of humour... and maybe some earplugs, just in case. Thanks for the heads-up!

PUMCH Emergency Room Horror Stories?

fmd_good Peking Union Medical College Hospital

So I'm heading to @Beijing next month for a conference, and naturally, I'm terrified of getting sick. My friend swore up and down that Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH), everyone just cal… more

Yeah, PUMCH ER... It's a mixed bag, honestly. Top-notch doctors, absolutely, but the sheer volume of patients can be overwhelming. Expect a wait, potentially a long one, especially if you go during peak hours or if you're not dealing with something life-threatening. My friend had a relatively minor issue and still sat there for at least three hours. The facilities are decent, though, modern and clean compared to some other places I’ve seen in @Beijing. Travel insurance is a great idea, especially given the language barrier; it could really ease a stressful situation. Don't sweat it too much though— most likely you'll be fine. Just try to go prepared with any necessary paperwork, and if you can, have someone who speaks Mandarin with you.
