That's a great suggestion! I hadn't thought about looking at old maps and archives. Beijing's Chinatown sounds incredible, that juxtaposition you mentioned is exactly what I'm hoping to capture. The secret society angle was more of a playful thought, honestly. I'm more interested in the everyday evolution of the place – the businesses that came and went, the changing demographics, that sort of thing. Finding old photos would be amazing! Learning some Mandarin is definitely on the to-do list now. Thanks for the tips!
