Seriously, it's a whole other world in there. I spent hours wandering, finding amazing little shops tucked away, handmade jewelry, quirky stationery, even a place selling these incredible miniature terracotta army figurines. But I got completely turned around. Like, seriously disoriented. It felt like I walked through the same corridor five times. My question is: does anyone have a map, or at least some tips for navigating this retail monster? I need a strategy before my next attempt.

honestly the best trick is to pick a color for each floor and stick to it. the mall uses these colored tiles on the floor near the main elevators - blue for B1, red for 1F, yellow for 2F, green for 3F. if you get lost just find a colored tile and you'll know what floor you're on. the stairwells are also labeled with floor numbers in chinese near the door handles, easy to miss but they're there. also the shopkeepers are pretty chill about directions, most of them speak enough english to point you toward the nearest exit.

ngl i just use the main escalator as my anchor point every time. if i get lost i find it by listening for the sound of the food court, it's always near the center. also the wifi there is surprisingly solid, just screenshot the shop names in chinese and use google maps to see where u are relative to the main exits

Dude, Fangyuanli ID Mall is a BEAST. I feel your pain. No map exists, that I know of, it's pure survival of the fittest in there. My tip? Pick a central point, maybe a major staircase or a particularly memorable shop, and use that as your base. Radiate outwards from there, exploring a section at a time. Take lots of pictures of the hallways as you go; it'll help you retrace your steps. And maybe bring a friend, just in case one of you gets completely lost. Good luck, you'll need it!

olympic forest park is slept on fr. the linden trees along the main axis go gold in late october and the bird's nest reflection in the lake at sunrise is nuts, barely anyone there on weekdays. also check out 798 art district on a weekday morning, the old factory pipes and graffiti make great contrast shots. tbh bring a wider lens than u think you need, everything in beijing is bigger than it looks in photos

everyone goes for the big landmarks but honestly the best shots i got were from the overpasses on the 3rd ring road at dusk, just traffic light trails with CCTV tower lit up in the background. also guomao at blue hour from the silk street footbridge, the CBD towers all glassy & orange, tripod helps cuz u need a slow shutter. one thing nobody mentions, air quality totally changes your photos so check the AQI app the night before, a clear day after rain is worth waiting for

For sunrise the Temple of Heaven east gate area is underrated, locals doing tai chi around 5:30am with the morning fog, way better than fighting crowds at Tiananmen. For sunset honestly just walk along the canal near Shichahai, the reflections off the water with the Drum Tower behind are hard to beat. Bring a tripod if you can, the good light only lasts like 20 mins this time of year.
