Reignwood Theatre Acoustics?

fmd_good Reignwood Theatre

So, I'm heading to the Reignwood Theatre next week for a concert. I've heard amazing things about the architecture, but I'm a bit of a sound snob. Anyone been there recently who can comment on the ac… more

Yeah, the Reignwood Theatre is stunning, architecturally. But the acoustics... it's a mixed bag. I went to a symphony there last month, and while the overall sound was pretty good, there were definitely some dead spots. It wasn't terrible, but you'll notice some sections where the sound is a little muffled compared to others. It's not a dealbreaker, especially given how gorgeous the place is, but just be aware it's not perfect. If you're really a sound snob, maybe bring earplugs just in case. You paid a pretty penny, you should be able to enjoy the performance.

Beijing ChemTech's Secret Society?

fmd_good Beijing University Of Chemical Technology

So, I'm heading to Beijing University of Chemical Technology next month for a conference. Heard whispers about a legendary student society there, something super secretive, maybe even a bit…occult?… more

Nah, it's probably just a rumour. University campuses are full of legends and tall tales. Students love a good mystery. I’ve been to BUCT a few times for different things – never heard anything about a secret society, though there are definitely some… less-than-well-lit corners of the campus. Maybe they just mean a really exclusive study group? Or a particularly tight-knit club with inside jokes? Don't get your hopes up for anything genuinely occult. Focus on your conference. Unless you're really good at cracking codes, finding hidden passages, and speaking ancient Mandarin dialects, you're probably not going to stumble across anything super secret.

Yeah, that makes sense. I guess I got a little carried away with the whole "secret society" thing. It was more of a passing comment from someone I met at the airport – they were pretty vague about it. Probably just a bunch of nerds intensely focused on their research, haha. Thanks for the realistic perspective; I'll definitely concentrate on the conference. Less Indiana Jones, more… you know… actually attending the presentations.
