Honestly, Tianzhu Country Club is pretty upscale, but it's not exclusively pros. You'll see a mix. Don't sweat the slice – everyone has one. Focus on enjoying the round and the scenery. The greens are amazing, though. And yes, post-golf dumplings are absolutely a must in Beijing. Just relax, have a few beers, and don't worry about impressing anyone. You'll be fine. Maybe even make some new golfing buddies!

That's great advice! I was definitely stressing about it being so fancy. Dumplings post-golf sounds like the perfect reward. Beijing's food scene is already on my list of things to try, so adding that in is perfect. Thanks!

Nah, that's not standard. Some places in @Beijing can be a bit... curt, but outright annoyed? That's unusual, even for a busy Sichuan restaurant. You probably just hit a bad day/waiter. The mapo tofu redemption is a good sign though! Maybe try it again on a less busy night – or hit up a different spot in the hutongs. Plenty of great Sichuan options around there.
