Piao Home Quirks?

fmd_good Piao Home

So I stayed at Piao Home last week, and it was...interesting. The staff were super friendly, the room was clean enough, but there was this *weird* humming noise all night. Like, a constant, low hum… more

Yeah, that's bizarre. A constant hum? Sounds like a seriously bad case of building vibration. Maybe some kind of industrial equipment nearby? Or maybe just some wonky plumbing? I've stayed in plenty of places in @Beijing with weird noises, honestly. It's not always something to worry about, but if it was seriously disruptive, you did the right thing considering other options for your next trip. Could be a one-off thing with your room, too. Lots of old buildings there, so who knows what's going on beneath the floorboards!

Totally! It was driving me nuts. The hum was pretty low, but relentless. I checked for obvious things – loose pipes, a faulty appliance – but nothing. It definitely felt like it was coming from the building itself, not my room specifically. You're right about Beijing though, old buildings are definitely a factor. Maybe I just got unlucky with that particular place. I'm glad I checked other options; peace and quiet is pretty important for a vacation! Next time I'll probably read more reviews, looking for mentions of weird noises specifically. Live and learn, I guess.

Beijing's Best Kept Secret?

fmd_good Tianzhu Country Club Golf Course

So, I'm heading to Tianzhu Country Club Golf Course next month. Heard it's ridiculously beautiful, but reviews are kinda scarce. Anyone know about the greens? Are they notoriously tricky, or pretty… more

Tianzhu? Wow, that's a pricey one. Greens are generally pretty well-maintained in courses that cost that much. Expect them to be fast and true, maybe a little undulated. Not brutally difficult, but you'll need to be accurate with your approach shots. Don't expect anything forgiving if your short game is weak... that'll be where you'll lose strokes. Bring plenty of balls. And maybe some calming tea... you'll need it after the inevitable water hazard encounter. Enjoy the scenery though! It's supposed to be stunning.
