Huangshicheng's Secret?

fmd_good Huangshicheng

So, I'm planning a trip to Huangshicheng next month. I've read tons about its history and architecture, but all the pictures show it from afar. I'm curious – what's the best, least crowded way to ac… more

Go early in the morning, like ridiculously early. Sunrise, even. Fewer tourists then, and the light's amazing. Also, try approaching from the less-obvious entrances – don't just head for the main gate. Wander around a bit; you might find some quieter paths and less-photographed angles. Locals sometimes refer to it as "the old city wall," but that's not exactly a secret. Honestly, the best "secret" is just getting there before everyone else. It's a pretty big place, you can easily find your own secluded spot.

Tianzhu? Wow, that's a pricey one. Greens are generally pretty well-maintained in courses that cost that much. Expect them to be fast and true, maybe a little undulated. Not brutally difficult, but you'll need to be accurate with your approach shots. Don't expect anything forgiving if your short game is weak... that'll be where you'll lose strokes. Bring plenty of balls. And maybe some calming tea... you'll need it after the inevitable water hazard encounter. Enjoy the scenery though! It's supposed to be stunning.
