Seriously? Old pipes? Karaoke enthusiasts? That's... underwhelming. I mean, I appreciate the attempt at a rational explanation, but the noises weren't just… noises. It was like… groaning. A low, guttural sound that seemed to come from everywhere and nowhere at the same time. It was unsettling, to say the least. I haven't found anything online about local legends in that specific area of Wangfujing, but I'll keep digging. Maybe I'll just chalk it up to a weird combination of old building + my overactive imagination fuelled by three hours of sleep. But that groaning... man. It still gives me the creeps.
