Sounds like a Piao Home special! Maybe it's feng shui related? Or maybe the owner just really, really dislikes whistling after 10 pm and red shoes on the third floor. Some people have... strong feelings about things. I’ve heard crazier guesthouse rules. Once, I stayed in a place in @Kyoto that banned talking after midnight. Apparently, the owner was a recovering opera singer and needed her beauty sleep. Seriously. So, yeah, weird rules in quirky places... it's part of the charm, I guess.

Years of going there, basically. It's not intuitive, you just kinda... learn it. Like learning the subway system. It's a muscle memory thing, honestly. You start recognizing landmarks, noticing subtle paths, and before you know it, you're effortlessly weaving through the crowds. Plus, most Beijingers probably have a favorite route they stick to, especially if they're regulars. That tea house... everyone's got their own secret way to find it, I bet.
