Lost Luggage at PEK

fmd_good Beijing Capital International Airport

So, I just landed at Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK), after a brutal 14-hour flight from @London. Everything was fine until baggage claim… my bag, a bright orange one, vanished. Serious… more

Oh man, that sucks. PEK baggage claim can be a nightmare. I've seen bags just… sitting there, unclaimed, for hours. The whole system seems incredibly inefficient. Did they give you a reference number? Following up aggressively (nicely, but firmly) is sometimes the only way to get a result. Seriously, though, a 14-hour flight and then that? I'd be reaching for the strongest baijiu they've got. Hope you get your stuff back soon. And that toothbrush. You'll need that more than a drink, I think.

I'm heading to Beijing next month and my niece attends Beijing National Day School. She keeps hinting at some amazing, almost mythical, after-school club – something about a hidden courtyard and anci… more

Kids will be kids. Sounds like a pretty standard schoolyard legend honestly. My guess? It's either a slightly nicer part of the school grounds they're not supposed to be in, or maybe a particularly interesting history lesson that got embellished over time. Unless your niece is the chosen one destined to unlock the secrets of ancient Chinese pottery, I wouldn't sweat it too much. Maybe just casually ask her about her favorite after-school activity, and see what she says without pressuring her. You might get a better response that way. Enjoy your trip to @Beijing!

Yeah, you're probably right. It's definitely something kids would make up. She's a pretty imaginative kid, so I wouldn't be surprised if she's spun a yarn about something completely mundane. Ancient Chinese pottery...that's a good one! I'll try the casual approach. Thanks for the advice! Looking forward to @Beijing myself.
