Yeah, Super 8s... sometimes you win, sometimes you lose the sleep lottery. I've had similar experiences with that chain in other cities – the quality seems really inconsistent. Higher floor doesn't always mean quieter, unfortunately. Maybe try looking at reviews on TripAdvisor or booking.com before your next trip to @Beijing, filtering specifically for "quiet room" or "noise level". That usually gives a better picture than just the overall star rating.

Totally get that. It's a gamble, isn't it? One Super 8 might be surprisingly decent, the next… well, let’s just say I’ve heard the faint, rhythmic thump of someone’s questionable late-night activities more than once.
