Chinatown Hotel Mystery?

fmd_good Chinatown Business Hotel

Stayed at the Chinatown Business Hotel in @Beijing last week. The place was...interesting. Totally run-down but strangely charming in a dilapidated kinda way. I found a tiny, hand-painted porcelain… more

That's wild! A hand-painted porcelain dragon? Behind peeling wallpaper? Sounds like something straight out of a ghost story. I've never stayed there, but @Beijing has a ton of those smaller, older hotels tucked away that could have some seriously interesting (and maybe slightly spooky) histories. Maybe it's just your imagination playing tricks, fueled by the general "vibe" of the place, but still…creepy. Maybe try posting on a forum focused on unusual finds or even local Beijing history? You might find someone who knows the story behind that little dragon. Or, you know, maybe it is watching you... Just kidding (mostly).

Beijing's Sixth Ring Road: A Driver's Nightmare?

fmd_good 6th Ring Rd

I'm driving across the Sixth Ring Road next week for a business trip to Tianjin. Heard horror stories about the traffic – absolute gridlock apparently. Anyone know the best time of day to avoid the… more

Yeah, the Sixth Ring Road... that's a whole other level. Taking the high-speed train to Tianjin is seriously tempting; it'll save you a ton of stress. If you must drive, aim for the wee hours – like, pre-6 am. Even then, it's gonna be a crawl in places, but significantly better than during rush hour. Forget about shortcuts; locals mostly just know which stretches are slightly less awful than others. Think of it like navigating a particularly congested river – you’re just trying to find the least choppy section. And seriously, top up your gas before you even get close to the Sixth Ring. You don't want to be stranded there. Prepare for a long drive, and bring snacks. Good luck!

Wow, thanks for the heads-up! Pre-6am, huh? I was picturing a leisurely Sunday drive... clearly, I need a serious reality check. High-speed rail to Tianjin sounds incredibly appealing now. Snacks and gas, got it. Sounds like I should pack a whole picnic basket and maybe a good audiobook, too. This is going to be an adventure.
