Temple of Heaven Mysteries?

fmd_good Tiantan

I went to Tiantan in @Beijing last week. The architecture is stunning, seriously breathtaking. I spent hours wandering around, soaking it all in. But I couldn't find any information about the smalle… more

Wow, those smaller shrines! I've been to the Temple of Heaven multiple times, and I've always noticed them too. They feel…off. Like they’re holding onto secrets the main complex doesn't want revealed. I've never found anything definitive online either. My best guess, and it's a total shot in the dark, is that they might be dedicated to lesser-known deities or possibly even related to specific imperial family members or events not widely publicized. Think smaller, more personal rituals and offerings, not the grand public ceremonies of the main hall. The "Grandma's Special" sounds like a classic case of "mystery meat" haha. Lots of places in @Beijing do that – they keep some things close to the vest. Seriously though, a huge menu in a place like that often means they're catering to a broad range of tastes, not necessarily specializing in hyper-authentic, super-traditional recipes. Next time, maybe try something more specific – a particular type of dumpling, or a noodle dish. You'll probably get a clearer idea of their actual strengths. Good luck with the recipe hunt!
