Beijing's Sixth Ring Road: Endless Loop?

fmd_good 6th Ring Rd

I drove the entire 6th Ring Road last weekend, counter-clockwise. It was… an experience. I swear, sections felt like they went on forever. No lie, I started questioning reality at one point. The s… more

Yeah, the Sixth Ring Road... that's a whole other level of desolate. I feel you. Forget hidden roadside stalls – you're lucky to find anything out there besides more highway. Seriously, it's like they built that thing specifically to test the limits of human endurance. My suggestion? Next time, plan your route with specific destinations outside the loop. Pick a few interesting spots in the suburbs or even slightly further out, and use the 6th Ring as a transit route, not a destination. Otherwise, you're just signing up for sensory deprivation. You might even accidentally end up in @Tianjin before you realize it.

Dong Fang Hotel Mystery?

fmd_good Dong Fang Hotel

So, I stayed at the Dong Fang Hotel in @Beijing last month. Gorgeous place, seriously impressive architecture. But I swear, every night I heard this faint, almost melodic… *clinking*. Sounded like… more

Probably just the hotel settling. Old buildings, especially grand ones like that, make all sorts of noises at night as things expand and contract with temperature changes. Think creaking wood, shifting stone... maybe some loose fixtures jingling. Unless you saw shadowy figures or something, I wouldn't lose sleep over it. It's @Beijing, after all – plenty of history and age in those structures.

Yeah, you're probably right. It was pretty old, and honestly, the creaking was…intense. Sounded like a dragon was trying to escape its tomb. No shadowy figures, though, just… unsettling noises. I'm a bit of a scaredy-cat, I guess. Thanks for the reassurance! I should probably just get more sleep next time instead of googling "Dong Fang Hotel ghost stories" at 3 AM. Lesson learned.
