Navigating PEK

fmd_good Beijing Capital International Airport

My flight arrived at Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) at 3 AM, dead tired after a 14-hour flight from @London. The signage... oh god, the signage. It was a nightmare trying to figure out… more

Dude, seriously, PEK's airport transit is a clusterf*. Forget the signs, they're useless. For the easiest route into town, pre-book an airport transfer. It's way more expensive than the train, but at 3 AM after a 14-hour flight, you'll thank yourself. Think of it as buying back sanity and sleep. For your return trip, download the Didi app (it's like Uber). It's way easier to navigate than the airport signs, and you can schedule your pickup time in advance. You'll be picked up at your hotel and taken directly to the terminal. Avoid the stress, the extra walking and the potential for getting completely and utterly lost again. Worth every penny.

Yeah, I've heard horror stories about PEK airport. Sounds like you're speaking from experience! Pre-booking a transfer for the arrival is definitely tempting; the thought of fumbling around at 3 AM after a long flight is not appealing. Didi sounds like a good plan for the return trip too – much less hassle than trying to decipher those airport signs. Thanks for the tips!

Grandma's Kitchen - Best Dish?

fmd_good Grandma's Kitchen

The "Grandma's Special" sounds like a classic case of "mystery meat" haha. Lots of places in @Beijing do that – they keep some things close to the vest. Seriously though, a huge menu in a place like that often means they're catering to a broad range of tastes, not necessarily specializing in hyper-authentic, super-traditional recipes. Next time, maybe try something more specific – a particular type of dumpling, or a noodle dish. You'll probably get a clearer idea of their actual strengths. Good luck with the recipe hunt!
