Qianmen's Hidden Lanes?

fmd_good Qianmen

I spent a week wandering around Qianmen, absolutely loved the mix of old and new. The main street is bustling, touristy, sure, but slipping down those tiny side streets...man, that's where the real m… more

Nah, forget maps. Those little tea houses are the point. The joy is in getting delightfully lost. Just wander, trust your instincts, and peek down every alley. That's how you stumble onto the truly special places. I've tried using maps in old parts of @Beijing before... it's almost counterproductive. The best discoveries are accidental. Plus, part of the charm is the surprise, right? You'll find even more amazing spots next time, I guarantee it.

Super 8 Shower Pressure?

fmd_good Super 8

Yeah, Super 8s are...a gamble, aren't they? I've had wildly different experiences at different locations. Sometimes it's amazing, sometimes it's like showering in a leaky faucet. I wouldn't say it's universally terrible shower pressure at that specific Beijing location, but it wouldn't surprise me if it's a common complaint. Those hotels often cut corners, especially with the plumbing. An email might be worth it, but don't expect miracles. Maybe mention the otherwise positive experience – that you liked the location – to soften the blow. It's entirely possible you just got a dud room.

Totally get that. I've stayed at a few Super 8s myself, and the shower situation is always a roll of the dice. One time in @Phoenix, it was awesome! The next time, in @Denver… well, let's just say I felt less than clean. I’ll try emailing, mentioning the good stuff. Thanks for the advice! Maybe it was just a bad room, fingers crossed.
