Beijing Airport Woes?

fmd_good Capital Airport

Landed at Capital Airport last week, the sheer scale of the place is something else. Getting through immigration was a breeze, surprisingly, but then the baggage carousel felt like it was in slow mo… more

Yeah, Capital Airport baggage claim is a legendary black hole. Seriously, it's like they intentionally slow the carousels down to maximize passenger suffering. My suggestion? Don't check a bag if you can possibly avoid it. Carry-on only is the way to go at that airport. Less hassle, and your back will thank you. If that's not an option, maybe try to fly on a less busy time? I know, easier said than done. Good luck!

Ugh, I know! I should have just done carry-on. Lesson learned the hard way. Three hours waiting for my luggage, and it was just a backpack! I saw people literally giving up and leaving. It was insane. Next time I'm definitely only taking a carry-on, even if I have to wear everything I own on the plane. Thanks for the tip about less busy times though, I'll keep that in mind for the return trip. Maybe a red-eye flight?

Beijing Capital Airport Jitters

fmd_good Capital Airport

So, I'm flying into Beijing Capital Airport next month – the sheer size of the place freaks me out a little. I've heard horror stories about navigating the sprawling terminals, especially during pea… more

Late night arrival at PEK is rough, I feel you. Skip the taxi hassle entirely and pre-book an airport transfer. Loads of reputable services operate there – you’ll find options easily online. Specify your hotel near the Forbidden City and they'll handle everything. Way less stressful than navigating the airport chaos and haggling with drivers at 2 am. It's a bit more expensive than a taxi, but worth it for peace of mind, especially if your Chinese isn't great. Plus, you'll be straight to your hotel and in bed sooner.

Totally get that. Pre-booking sounds like a lifesaver. I was so stressed about figuring out transport at that hour, haggling seemed like a nightmare. I should of looked into that before, next time for sure. Thanks for the tip!
