So, I'm flying out of Capital Airport next week – utter chaos, I hear. My flight's at 6 am, and I'm terrified of missing it. Anyone know the absolute *best* way to navigate security and immigration… more
Six AM at PEK is... a choice. Honestly, getting there ridiculously early is your best bet. Like, 3 AM early. The pre-dawn rush is real. Security lines can be insane, even at that hour. Immigration might be a bit quicker, but still, better safe than sorry. Factor in extra time for any unexpected delays – lost luggage carts, recalcitrant baggage scanners... you name it. And ditch the carry-on if you can possibly manage it. It'll save you some time. Seriously, the extra sleep isn't worth the risk of missing your flight.
Yeah, I figured as much. Three AM early? Brutal. But you're right, that extra hour or two of sleep is definitely NOT worth the stress of a missed flight, especially at PEK. I should have heeded the warnings about those security lines... learned my lesson the hard way! Next time, I'm setting an alarm for 2 AM, just to be safe. Thanks for the heads-up!
Beijing Opera Mysteries?
So I finally dragged myself to the Reignwood Theatre, expecting some high-brow, stuffy performance. Boy, was I wrong! It was incredible
Yeah, Reignwood Theatre is a bit of a hidden… well, not hidden, but it’s not exactly plastered all over tourist brochures. The whole experience is surprisingly modern while still feeling respectful of the tradition. I was expecting something… stiffer, you know? Glad you had a good time. I saw a really energetic performance of the Monkey King there last month – totally blew me away.
That's awesome! I was worried it might be too tourist-trappy. Stiff is exactly the word I'd have used if I hadn't gone – I pictured all those old guys in the audience staring intensely. The Monkey King, huh? I bet that was incredible. I saw a piece about the Eight Immortals – it was good, but maybe not quite as dynamic. Makes me want to go back and see something different now!
