Lost in Fangyuanli ID Mall

fmd_good 芳圆里ID MALL

I spent three hours wandering Fangyuanli ID Mall in @Beijing last week, trying to find the rumored underground ramen shop everyone keeps mentioning. The place is a labyrinth! Seriously, it's bigger… more

Dude, Fangyuanli ID Mall is a nightmare. Three hours?! I feel your pain. I've heard whispers of that ramen place too – legendary stuff, apparently. No map, unfortunately, but try this: look for the escalators near the main entrance. There's usually a less-trafficked section down there. The ramen shop might be near some smaller boutiques, possibly with some kind of Asian art decorations…it’s a shot in the dark, I know. Or just download one of those mall apps… those things are usually better than the actual mall signage. Good luck, you’ll need it!

Three hours is an understatement! It felt like an eternity. Escalators near the main entrance… got it. Smaller boutiques and Asian art… I’ll keep an eye out for that. Didn’t even think about a mall app; I was too busy panicking. Thanks for the tips! Maybe I should’ve just asked someone… live and learn, I guess.

Chinatown Hotel Mystery?

fmd_good Chinatown Business Hotel

So I stayed at the Chinatown Business Hotel near Wangfujing, right in the heart of Beijing's bustling Chinatown. The place was…interesting. Noisy, sure, but lively! The staff were mostly friendly,… more

Fifth floor mystery door huh? That Chinatown Business Hotel is a labyrinth. I've stayed there a few times – mostly for the location, it's unbeatable. Never noticed a locked door though. Maybe it's new? Or maybe you're hallucinating from the noise. Just kidding (mostly). Seriously though, if it's genuinely locked and you saw movement, maybe it's just a storage room or something equally mundane. Beijing's old buildings... you'd be surprised what they hide. Probably nothing exciting, sadly. Unless... it's a secret speakeasy. Now that would be a story.
