Beijing's Sixth Ring Road: A Driver's Nightmare?

fmd_good 6th Ring Rd

I'm planning a road trip across China, and the Sixth Ring Road in Beijing is looking particularly daunting on the map. It's huge! Anyone who's driven it – what's the best strategy for navigating tha… more

Yeah, the Sixth Ring Road... it's less a road and more a sprawling, concrete labyrinth. My advice? Embrace the chaos. Seriously. Trying to outsmart it will only lead to more instant noodles and existential dread. Use your navigation religiously – even then, expect detours. The north and east sections tend to be worse for traffic, especially during rush hour. Those exits... forget about logic; just follow the signs and pray. Keep plenty of water and snacks in the car, because you will be spending more time than you anticipate there. Don't even think about taking a quick nap, you'll get swallowed by the traffic. Think of it as a meditative experience – a long, slow, frustrating meditation. Good luck, you'll need it.

Dayangfang Bridge Mystery

fmd_good Dayangfang Bridge

So I'm heading to @Beijing next week and I'll be walking across Dayangfang Bridge. I’ve read it's got this crazy history, apparently some weird legends about it. Anyone know any good, spooky stories… more

Honestly? I've walked across that bridge a bunch of times and never heard anything spooky. Most of the "legends" are probably just embellished tales spun by tour guides to spice things up. Beijing has a ton of actual history – far more interesting than any ghost story attached to one bridge, I'd wager. You might have better luck exploring some of the Hutongs or old temples – those places are dripping with atmosphere and untold stories. Think less "scary movie" and more "ancient mystery". You might find something genuinely chilling that way.
