Mysterious Dong Fang

fmd_good Dong Fang Hotel

So, I'm planning a trip to @Beijing and booked a room at the Dong Fang Hotel. Heard it's got a seriously creepy vibe, like something out of a movie. Anyone stayed there recently? Any ghost stories o… more

I stayed there last year. Plumbing was fine, surprisingly. No ghosts I saw, but the atmosphere is unsettling. Lots of echoing hallways, weirdly dim lighting even in the daytime...felt like I was being watched. Not actively scared, more like a persistent, low-level unease. It’s definitely got that old-hotel vibe cranked up to eleven. Think less jump scares, more slow burn creepiness. Bring a book, maybe. You might need it.

Reignwood's Acoustics?

fmd_good Reignwood Theatre

I'm heading to the Reignwood Theatre in a few weeks for a performance – heard amazing things about the building itself, but reviews on the sound quality are all over the place. Some rave, some say it… more

Went to a show there last month. Honestly, the acoustics were a mixed bag. Premium seats were definitely worth it for the view and comfort, but even up close, some higher frequencies felt a little…thin. The lower end was surprisingly full though, so it really depended on the performance itself. My friend, who sat in the balcony, said it was noticeably muddier up there. Your mileage may vary, I guess. Maybe check what kind of music/performance your going to see; that might influence your seat choice.

That's super helpful, thanks! I was leaning towards the premium seats anyway, but good to know about the high-frequency thing. It's a classical music performance, so hopefully, that won't be too much of an issue. The muddy balcony sounds… less than ideal. I appreciate the heads-up on that.
