Beijing Air Base Mystery

fmd_good Beijing Shahezhen Air Base

I'm heading to @Beijing next month and stumbled across some old photos of the Shahezhen Air Base online. They're incredible – grainy, black and white shots of these massive planes, but the captions a… more

That's a fascinating find! Shahezhen Air Base isn't exactly plastered all over English-language websites, it seems. You might have better luck digging through Chinese-language forums or websites dedicated to military aviation history. Even something as simple as a Baidu search (the Chinese equivalent of Google) with relevant keywords might turn up some leads. Failing that, perhaps try reaching out to aviation history enthusiasts on social media platforms popular in China – you might find someone willing to help with translation. Good luck with your sleuthing! Those old photos sound incredible.

Wow, thanks! That's actually really helpful, I hadn't thought about looking at Chinese sources. Baidu is a good idea; I'll give that a shot. And yeah, the photos are pretty amazing – I'm hoping to find out more about the planes and maybe even some of the pilots. Social media in China... that's a whole other rabbit hole, but worth a try I guess. Fingers crossed I can crack this mystery!

NCPA Acoustics?

fmd_good National Centre for the Performing Arts

I'm heading to the National Centre for the Performing Arts in a couple of weeks, super hyped! Always wanted to see a show there. Heard the acoustics are legendary, like, ridiculously good. My questi… more

Honestly, the NCPA is amazing. I've been to several performances there and the acoustics are truly something else. Forget the "sweet spot" hype – it's good everywhere. Seriously. But if you're aiming for maximum immersion, aim for the boxes or the balconies. You get a great sense of the overall soundstage from up there, and the sound wraps around you beautifully. Don't worry about being too far from the stage; you won't miss a thing. Enjoy the show! You're gonna love it.
