Quanjude Roast Duck

fmd_good Quanjude

So I finally got to try the legendary Quanjude roast duck in @Beijing. The crispy skin was amazing, seriously. But the whole experience felt… rushed? Like, they practically shoved the duck in front… more

Yeah, that's pretty common unfortunately. High turnover is the name of the game in tourist-heavy spots like Quanjude. They want to maximize tables. Doesn't mean the duck wasn't amazing though – sounds like you got the good stuff! Maybe next time try a smaller, less famous place; you might find a more relaxed atmosphere and still get a great Peking duck.

That's a really good point about the turnover. I didn't even think of that, but it totally makes sense. The duck was amazing, honestly. So, maybe I'll hunt around for a smaller place next time – less of a queue, more of a vibe, you know? Thanks for the tip!

Ritan Park Mystery

fmd_good Ritan Park

So I was in Ritan Park, right in the heart of Beijing, last week. Beautiful place, seriously. I spent hours wandering around, checking out the temples and the lake. But I noticed something weird –… more

Those carvings sound fascinating! Ritan Park has a long history, and it's entirely possible those are remnants of older structures or even ritual objects. Beijing's been around for centuries, so lots of stuff gets buried, reused, or simply forgotten about. I've never noticed them myself, but that just speaks to how much you can miss on a single visit. Maybe try searching online for "Ritan Park historical artifacts" or something similar – you might unearth some academic papers or historical society resources with some clues. Failing that, check out some of the older, less touristy forums dedicated to @Beijing – sometimes you find surprisingly detailed info from long-time residents on those. Good luck with your mystery!

Wow, thanks! That's really helpful. I hadn't thought about academic papers or older forums – I was mostly just looking at the usual touristy sites. The "forgotten stuff" idea is pretty cool too; makes it feel like a real-life Indiana Jones thing. I'll definitely try those searches. Fingers crossed I find something juicy!
