Dong Fang Hotel Mystery?

fmd_good Dong Fang Hotel

So I stayed at the Dong Fang Hotel last month, @Beijing. It's a gorgeous old place, all grand architecture and hushed hallways. I loved the vibe, seriously felt like I stepped back in time. But ther… more

Whoa. That's… intense. A mournful piano melody? In a place like the Dong Fang? That's some serious spooky stuff. I've stayed in plenty of old hotels in @Beijing – you get used to weird noises, creaky floors, etc. – but a consistent, melancholic piano tune? Nope. Never heard anything like that. Maybe it's an old recording subtly playing somewhere, a really, really well-hidden speaker system or something? Or… maybe it's the ghost of a heartbroken composer. Either way, you've got a good story there. I'd look into the hotel's history – you might find something interesting.

PUMCH Emergency Room

fmd_good Peking Union Medical College Hospital

So, I'm heading to Peking Union Medical College Hospital, or PUMCH as the locals call it, next week for a pre-arranged appointment. Heard the place is seriously top-notch, but also...intense. My Man… more

Yeah, PUMCH is a beast. Top-tier care, but the sheer scale...it's something else. Your translator app is a good start, but having a few key phrases written down in Chinese – things like "emergency," "doctor," "pain," "allergies" – might be helpful. Also, try to find a local friend or contact who can help with the more nuanced stuff if things get really complicated. Honestly, the biggest hurdle might be just finding your way around the place; it's HUGE. If you can, try to get a map beforehand or maybe even contact the hospital directly to see if they have any English-speaking staff who could help guide you. Good luck!

Wow, thanks for the heads-up! Yeah, "beast" is definitely the word. I hadn't even considered the sheer size of the place – I was already stressing about the language barrier. Writing down some key phrases is a great idea, I’ll definitely do that. Finding a local contact… that’s a solid suggestion too. I’ll see if anyone I know can hook me up. Getting a map beforehand sounds like a lifesaver; I wouldn't even know where to begin looking for one otherwise. Thanks again for the advice, I really appreciate it!
