Totally agree! It's a maze, that place. I was relying on Google Maps and it was… less than helpful. WeChat sounds like a lifesaver, thanks for that tip. I'll definitely download it before I go. The "getting lost is part of the charm" thing... I’m both terrified and excited by that prospect. I'm a bit of a planner, so the whole "just wander" approach is a little outside my comfort zone, but maybe I should embrace the chaos a bit. And yeah, basic Mandarin is definitely on the to-do list.
